1. AWARDS
The champion shall
receive a plaque.
2. PLAY-OFFS
a) The KCSSAA
representative will play the LSSAA representative in the semi-final. The semi-final winner will play the WECSSAA
representative in the final.
b) The game between the
KCSSAA representative and the LSSAA representative will alternate yearly
between the two member associations.
c) The final game
(from (a)) will alternate between WECSSAA and the member association of the
semi-final winner.
3. PLAYING
RULES
The rules of the Canadian Rule Book for Tackle Football shall govern
play with the following exceptions and points of emphasis:
a)
If the benches are on the same side of the field, the
bench area shall be from a team’s 45 yard line to its 15 yard line.
b)
Each team, while on offence, may use its own football,
provided the Referee has deemed the ball suitable. Each team is responsible for bringing its own
ball onto the field after a change of possession. The game will not be delayed for changing of
the football.
c)
Teams shall play 4 quarters of 12 minutes each. The clock will start and stop as per the rule
book.
d)
Tie Game: The overtime procedure shall follow the
rulebook.
e)
Each team shall
be allowed two time-outs per half of regulation time and one time-out during
the over-time process in 3.d). Time outs shall be one minute. Players
may come to the benches. Coaches may not enter the field of play unless
attending an injury.
f) There shall be a one yard restraining zone at
the line of scrimmage.
g) If both teams have
the same colour uniform top, it is the responsibility of the home team to
change.
h)
Numbering requirements as outlined in Rule 4, Section
3, Article 1 will be followed.
i)
The player who, at the snap of the ball is occupying a
position at either end of the line of scrimmage may be in motion while within 1
yard of the line of scrimmage but must not be moving towards the opponent’s
goal line when the ball is put in play.
j)
To achieve first down yardage, teams shall be
permitted the same number of downs as used in the OFSAA Western Bowl play-offs.
k)
Blocking below the waist is allowed as per the rule
book.
l)
On any kick from scrimmage (which excludes kick-offs),
when the ball enters the end zone, the receiving team being able to successfully
advance the ball legally out of the end zone and retain possession, may choose
to scrimmage at their own 20 yard line or where the ball becomes dead.
4. OFFICIALS
a)
Six football officials will be used in each SWOSSAA
Playoff game.
b)
In the semi-final, these officials will be from the
area of the convenor.
c)
In the Final, a split crew of officials rom each of the member associations playing tin the final will be used.
The officials shall be assigned in the following manner:
Host member association:
Referee, Back Umpire, Back Judge.
Visiting member association:
Umpire, Head Linesman, Line Judge.
d) For the SWOSSAA Final, the
game fee will be $270.00 ( $45.00 per official). The
travel rate for the out of town officials will be $60.00, to and from
